Course Requests

Submitting Course Requests is ONLINE through myDSD STUDENT ACCOUNTS. 

1. Check your graduation summary. Log into myDSD. Select Academics, then Reports, then Graduation Summary. If you need help accessing or reading it, check out the video posted on the Graduation Planning page (it is under graduation requirements).
2. Identify what credit requirements you still need to meet for graduation. 
3. Select courses that you NEED to take (and would like to take). If you have questions regarding a certain class, you can look through our course descriptions below for more information.
4. Choose additional classes (ones you are interested in and want).
4. Complete a course request card. Save a copy or take a picture.
5. Submit your courses online. Online course submission will be through the student's myDSD. Log into myDSD. Select Academics, then Course Requests.

Please review the above steps for success before logging into myDSD (student account) to add or edit course requests. You likely discussed course options and your graduation status during your Junior CCR. Please refer to any paperwork you received during this important meeting with your counselor.

Core classes like English 12 (year), US Government, and General Financial Literacy have already been chosen for you. Feel free to make adjustments to your course request as long as you are still requesting classes that help you meet graduation requirements.

Welcome to CHS! We are SO excited for you to join our Fabulous Falcon Family.

Feel welcome to attend our Falcon Preview. We want you to become acquainted with some of the amazing things CHS has to offer and help in your transition.

Once boundary permits have been reviewed and approved, you should be able to complete course requests ONLINE just like current CHS students. Online course requests have closed (March 1st), so please reach out to your assigned counselor. Counselors are assigned by student last name. We're here to help!!

Some students want to get ahead in their graduation credits. Other students want to make room for additional elective options. To help meet these requests, CHS will offer several ONLINE courses during the summer of 2024:

Fit for Life
Health 2
General Financial Literacy
US Government
Marching Band--Please see Mr. Bailey for expectations and cost as they are unique to Marching Band. 

Courses will begin the week following graduation and last three weeks. These courses are taught by CHS teachers ONLINE via CANVAS. Courses cost $20. 

Each course will be graded with letter grades so if students do not complete them or are failing at the end of the three weeks, they will have an F on their transcript.

Course requests for SUMMER ONLINE COURSES will open on February 6th until mid-May. Students can register/enroll in these summer courses by logging into their myDSD account and selecting Academics, then Summer Course Request. 

Students are required to complete 4 years of English (one or two courses per year) to graduate. Required courses include:

• English 9 (or honors)--completed in Junior High
• English 10 (or honors)
• English 11, AP Language, or IBHL English 11
• English 12, CE English, AP Literature, IBHL English 12 or a number of other courses (completing a full year or two semesters of English courses during 12th grade)

Students are required to complete 3.0 credits in math. This is typically completed by the end of their junior year. Required courses include:

• Secondary Math 1 (or honors)
• Secondary Math 2 (or honors)
• Secondary Math 3 (or honors) or higher
• Secondary Math 3 can be replaced with an alternative 3rd year math

Students are strongly encouraged to complete an additional year of math to be college/career ready. Additional math beyond graduation requirements will count towards a student's elective credit requirement.

Students are required to complete 3.0 credits in science. This is typically completed by the end of their junior year. Required courses include:

• two foundational Sciences approved by USBE (Earth Systems, Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
• a third-year science (an additional foundational science or another approved science)

Students are strongly encouraged to complete an additional year of science to be college/career ready. Additional science beyond graduation requirements will count towards a student's elective credit requirement.

Students are required to complete 2.5 credits in social studies. This is typically completed by the end of their junior year. Required courses include:

• Geography (.5 credits completed in Junior High)
• World History, honors World History, or AP World History (1.0 credit)
• US History, CE 1700, AP US History, or IBHL History of America (1.0 credit)

Additional social studies courses beyond graduation requirements will count towards a student's elective credit requirement.

Students are required to complete a semester of US Government. CHS offers both US Gov and AP US Gov. Students also need to pass a civics test. More information can be located on our graduation planning page. 

Students are required to complete 1.0 credits in CTE. That is two semester courses or one full year course. Once completed, any additional CTE courses will count towards a student's elective credit requirement.

Students need 8.5 Electives to graduate from Clearfield High School. Anytime a student completes a category and chooses to take additional classes in that category, those classes count as elective credit. There are some classes at CHS that only count as elective credit.
