America is turning 250 — and our students have something to say.

Davis School District is hosting Voices of a Nation: Student Perspectives on 250 Years of America, a districtwide speaking event aligned with America 250 Utah.

Students from every school and grade level are invited to apply to deliver an original speech about America’s past, present or future.

Selected students will receive mentorship and take the stage on May 4, 2026, at the Davis Instructional Services Center in Layton. The event will be professionally produced and live streamed for the community.

You don’t have to be famous to have something worth saying.

Take the mic. Share your idea. Be part of the story.

Applications due March 18.

Monday, March 2: “Hats off to reading! Wear your favorite hat to school!” Tuesday, March 3: “Book Character Day. Wear a character shirt from a book or a movie!” Wednesday, March 4: “Wild About Reading. Wear animal or safari prints!” Thursday, March 5: “Twin with a Friend. Match outfits with a friend or dress as matching book characters (Frog & Toad, siblings, best friends, etc.).” Friday, March 6: “Drop Everything and Read. Wear pajamas or sweats and bring your favorite book to read.” Decorative pastel shapes appear around the edges, and a small circular logo in the bottom right corner says “Wasatch Eagles.” Text at the bottom reads: “Set aside time to read this week! As a class, with a buddy, or at home with your family!”
Ms. Hinojosa’s 4th grade class brought their plant‑structure learning to life this week by harvesting fresh greens from their classroom farmstand. Students explored roots, stems, leaves, and flowers up close as they prepared and enjoyed their very own salads. It was a hands‑on, delicious way to see how each plant part supports growth—and supports healthy eating too!

After eight weeks of winning the SOAR expectation challenge of the week (Self Control, On Task, Achievement, and Respect), Mr. Matt’s fourth graders made history. Their hard work paid off in the most unforgettable way when Principal Larsen climbed onto the teacher's desk and delivered the victory dance everyone had been waiting for. What an amazing accomplishment! Outstanding job, Mr. Matt’s class!

Our 4th graders recently completed a meaningful service project as part of the Mind Up program, where they have been learning about the brain and how to regulate emotions.

Mr. Matt’s class created thank-you cards for the Clearfield Police Department and invited officers to visit and receive the notes and treats in person.

Ms. Hinojosa’s class spread kindness with surprise “kindness pranks,” writing encouraging notes and leaving treats at classroom doors before running away to keep it a secret.

We’re proud of our students for putting what they’ve learned into action and making a positive impact!
